Clomipramine, the 3-chloro analog of imipramine, is a dibenzazepine-derivative tricyclic antidepressant. Clomipramine is a strong, but not completely selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, as the active main metabolite desmethyclomipramine acts preferably as an inhibitor of noradrenaline reuptake.
